It’s November, and guess what that means. It’s time for another #NaBloPoMo. If you’re wondering what the heck #NaBloPoMo is, you’re not alone. It stands for National Blog Posting Month, and it stems from National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). The goal is to create a blog post every day in the month.
This will be my third year in a row doing NaBloPoMo, though last year, I missed the last few days when life decided to get in the way. Though it is a real challenge to create content 30 days in a row, there’s actually a sense of calm and relief that comes with taking on a project like this.
I have been blogging for five years, and in that time, blogging has changed immensely. In the beginning, I could create a recipe, shoot it under the fluorescent in my kitchen, maybe send out a tweet or a Facebook post, and share it on Foodbuzz (RIP).
Today, the expectations are so much higher, and the work per blog post is exponentially more daunting. Paradoxically, by participating in a 30 day writing and posting challenge, I force myself back into the more relaxed habits of 2010. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to make sure every little piece of herb is placed just right with tweezers or to strive for perfection.
One of the best parts of NaBloPoMo is the support and friendship of the blogging community. I’m going through this month with old friends and some new ones.
Each day this month, I’ll introduce you to a blogger who is joining me on the 30 Day blog posting challenge known as #NaBloPoMo. I hope you’ll check them out and support their journey as well.
Meet Irvin Lin
Irvin Lin of Eat the Love is my partner in crime. We first met when we were baby bloggers. Since then, we’ve collaborated on projects, spoken on panels, and taught classes on the nitty gritty of photo editing. We’ve been mistaken for married not once, but twice. And we’ve had conversations deep into the night on text, twitter, facebook, the phone, and even in person (gasp!)
Irvin’s blog is beautiful, and funny, and also boasts some killer recipes. Here are some of my favorite pieces from Eat the Love.
On Jealousy and Chocolate Cake
Frozen Bananas ala The Bluth Family
How I Found Out About The SCOTUS Ruling
Daily Gratitude
Falling rain on the first day of November
Chocolate
My super handsome husband
Animals that let me hug them and squeeze them and generally act like Elmira
