Today, I met a woman named Mississippi. Mississippi is homeless. She is a survivor of Katrina and she lost her daughter in that terrible disaster. My gratitude today centers around this lady.
I am grateful that I can meet people whose paths are so different than mine, and in those meetings, that I always find that our basic humanity is exactly the same. I am grateful that I have an extra $20 to be able to buy people like Mississippi a few pairs of socks, a warm hat, and some basic toiletries. I am grateful that she greeted me with a big hug and I am grateful for the sorrow I feel when I think of people who are sleeping on the street.
I am grateful for people who spend their lives helping people who are less fortunate and I today, I am grateful for literally all that I have.
